Travel to Claremont, California.
If you are flying domestically, then the best airport to fly to is Ontario, California (airport code: ONT), which is about 20 minutes from Claremont. (Taxis or ridesh ares should cost somewhere between $30 and $40.)
If you fly into Los Angeles Airport (LAX), which will be true of most international travelers, the travel time is between 1 hour and 2 hours, depending on traffic, and the cheapest shuttles cost about $125. Other local airports that are about the same distance from Claremont include Burbank (BUR) and Orange County (SNA).
For shuttle service from LAX to Claremont, we have had good experience with Sunshire Shuttle. They charge $99 plus $10 per passenger. (For example, two passengers would share a cost of $119.) The best way to setup the ride is to send them an email at Service@SunshireShuttle.com, mention that you are with the Fibonacci conference in Claremont and they will get back to you with booking information. (They will also pickup from Ontario and their rate is $55 plus $10 per passenger, but a taxi would be less expensive.)
We will eventually set up a Google sheet to assist participants in coordinating and sharing rides to and from the airport.
The best hotel for the conference is the Doubletree Hotel in Claremont. It is a clean, safe, comfortable hotel, and is about a 15 minute walk to campus. (Shuttles will also be provided by us.) The booking link below (which should be accessible through June 21) will allow people to attend at the group rate of $159/night plus tax. Note that there are some hotels in Pomona that are a few miles away that are cheaper, but definitely not recommended. There are also decent hotels in Ontario, but they are farther from the campus and we might not have shuttle service for them.
